PC Support Report

Activity Report of Elementary, Junior High School PC classes in 2000.
Participating in Elementary school's class.

Name: Toshikazu Inomata

(Making A Postcard Course)

"The person who taught me computer was Inomata. At first, I thought he was just an ordinary man but I was surprised to find out that he knew more about Romaji than me."

This is part of a thank you letter that a student had sent us.

We were delighted to find that by studying together with the students and teaching them, they think of us as useful, and gain respect for us, not just bunch of old people.

In a class at an elementary school, 2 students share one computer. Because the levels of students' computer skills are different, it is very difficult to have all students follow the instructions at the same time. At the end of the class, everyone is sweating.

We realized how hard it is to be a teacher who teaches 30-40 students all by him/herself.

Through teaching how to make a postcard, we can see how the children are observing their family very carefully. They ask us how they can express their gratitude to their mothers who are busy with work and housework. Also, students ask us difficult questions, and when these questions are asked, we have to put ourselves in the shoes of the children and try to see how we can express their feelings the way they would express them. This is not an easy task.

It has been a great experience for us to be able to participate in teaching the children, and being able to see the way children think.
