Plaza Class Course A. Activity report.
Hiroko Shouji
Internet, starting today, Internet
Class is going to be held for 8 days. Even though I've been
teaching for a while, I still get nervous. I hear someone saying,
"Center of the back row, please." I am relieved that
both of my students are female. I break the ice by pointing
to the name tag and introducing myself, telling them that I
will be helping them today.
Students are made up of different computer experience. Some
have touched a computer before, others haven't. Some have computer
at home, some don't. As a Supporter, I would like to help a
person who has not touched a computer than someone who knows
a little about the computer. Just like the time when I first
touched a computer.
"Even if you have a computer, if it just sits in your living
room, it's "only a box.", says, the chief of secretariat.
"Would I be able use a computer?" "I have a computer
but never touched it..." I can hear anxiety from their
voices. "You'll be alright. I was once like you, but look
where I am now." By saying this I am hoping to encourage
them.
"It would be nice to correspond with my grand children
in Tokyo." This is a good enough reason.
I still remember how I felt when I first took a virtual tour of the Louvre.
I was walking through the Louvre just by clicking the mouse. We could even
take a trip to the U.S. or the Europe. Internet is like a magic.
"Once you start the internet, You will never stop."
Our topic is always the same..
"Let's do it. And let's take the tour at the Louvre and
the white house." Our conversations often start like this.
We think the same.
We are about to start to learn how to start the computer, usage
of the mouse, and so on. Let's do our best !
